Five Word Friday: Week Eight

No comments:

Growing up I always kept a journal. I had memory problems as a kid and it was the best way to remind myself of events that occurred.

Since I'd rather spend my time doing other things than devote and prioritize writing a daily record in a journal, I decided to summarize my day in only five words for 2013.

Every Friday, I'll post what I wrote down for Saturday through Friday.

Week Eight

Saturday, 16 February: Not my best of days
Sunday, 17 February: Fun night with the alumnae

Monday, 18 February: Turn around shift after audit

Tuesday, 19 February: Planning ZOEurope all day long

Wednesday, 20 February: Happy anniversary to Riley J

Thursday, 21 February: It decides to come NOW?!

Friday, 22 February: Luigi's for our anniversary dinner

Anchor

No comments:

I love anchors because they mean hope, stability, and unexpected strength.

I am the ship and the world is my sea. Sometimes waters are calm with a beautiful day and sometimes it's trecherous and I need to use my sailing skills to navigate to safety.

Sometimes when I need a break, I need to let down my anchor at the harbor and wait until I'm ready to go back out to sea again.

Sometimes I  need someone there to tell me to raise anchor and get back out there before I'm ready.

Sometimes it's the hardest thing to lower anchor, when it's really the best thing for me.

But the fact that it's there as a safety net helps. I can stop, reflect, and regroup my thoughts and hone in my skills.

It's small, but powerful. It chains me to the safe, secure harbor rather than the mean, raging seas.

And then, when it's finally raised, I am able to face the treaterous sea that life can be.

Liebster Award No. 3

2 comments:
Amy at Life's a Trip Worth Taking nominated me for my third Liebster Award!

Read about my other two nominations [here] & [here]
Amy is a very talented blogger and she recognized some other great blogs besides mine, so be sure to check her blog out.

Since every Liebster Award nomination comes with a different set of questions, here are the ones Amy asked me:
1. What was your favorite fairytale as a child?
I believe fairytales keep us young, so my favorite is still Peter Pan (with Little Red Riding Hood as a close second). What, you thought it was going to be a princess story? There's too many amazing ones to choose (though The Frog Prince & Sleeping Beauty are my top two faves)
2. What do you enjoy doing on a rainy Sunday afternoon?
Anytime it rains, I love reading while listening to some light music and sitting on a porch or by a window. Unfortunately, I work most Sunday mornings, and during the school year, I have meetings to attend for AOII. So I usually can't do that.
3. How many different towns have you lived in and which one was your favorite?
I've lived in Albuquerque, NM; Flagstaff, AZ; and Cheney, WA. I love different parts of each, but Flagstaff is my favorite so far.

4. Short hair or long hair?
On me? I like my hair long. On a guy, I like it short.

5. Are you a morning person?
Not even a little bit. I need coffee if I'm going to be up before noon. I'm trying to get better though...

6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Europe. East & West.

7. Dog or cat?
I prefer dogs, but I love cats too.

8. What was your first job?
Themepark garbage duty. Gross.

9. What is your favorite recipe?
I love making Mexican Pie and Vegetarian Enchilada Casserole. Yum.

10.  Winter or summer?
Definitely depends on where I am and if there is heat/air conditioning. I like summer when I have a/c...a "real" winter is great during Christmas time but I don't care for it afterward. Can we move Christmas to January so we can get through the rest of winter?
11. When did you begin blogging and why?
I started blogging after a fire happened in my college apartment and I had to live elsewhere while it was being remodeled. I decided to blog about it. The blog was pretty awful….Life as told by Zoë started a few months after the start of a new chapter in my life and when I started growing as a person.

Five Word Friday Weeks Five and Six

No comments:
So I've been MIA...sorry. Life got a little too crazy for me to handle and update with blogging. BUT I did keep up with my Five Word a day journal, so I'll have a double dose of it for you readers out there.

First an update:

Last week I flew to Nashville, TN to take part in the 2013 Alpha Omicron Pi Leadership Academy. This is an annual event of workshops directed toward a certain aspect of life in a women's Fraternity. This year, all the workshops were for Recruitment Advisers, Vice President of Recruitment, and, as always, Chaper Presidents. Since the Eastern Washington University chapter (Tau Gamma) currently doesn't have a Recruitment Adviser, I was asked to go. I am so glad I said yes! I met some great sisters and heard some very inspiring speakers.

(Go read Jessica Gendron Williams & T.J. Sullivan. They're super amazing inspriation for any organization or club)

Riley J and I will be celebrating our four year anniversary on the 20th. It's pretty insane how fast the itime flaies. I've had my eye on a beige trench coat for quite some time, and when I found one on sale at Marshall's for $50, he jumped on it and bought it for me. Which was great, because after Tennessee, I am pretty strapped financially. Thanks boyfriend.

He'll be heading to Seattle next week for a School Psychology conference, so find him on the Twitter Machine and wish him tons of luck while he networks and starts his journey to bring home the bacon zucchini.
